THE TASK
The Wembley Store in Republic Street Valletta has been a landmark ever since Emmanuel Gauci opened it in 1924. Due to the economic hardships experienced during the 80’s and 90’s, the shop ended up turning into more of a convenience store other than a local version of Fortnum and Mason. The recent attention given to the Capital City presented the Gauci family with a golden opportunity to restore the Wembley Store to its former glory. Switch was called to the task of taking on the full rebranding process, which included brand identity management, interior and exterior designer and all communications material together with collateral.
OUR APPROACH
Working on the identity of The Wembley Store was a challenging task, which Switch gladly welcomed. The team wanted to create an iconic identity with a contemporary take on the existing one to create the perfect balance of authenticity and novelty. The final logo embodies “Quality foods at Heart” in a design that is distinctive and timeless. The store interior was designed to provide a welcoming, charming and intriguing space, instilled with energy and freshness, with light and occasional theatricality. As for the brand itself, the product offering played an integral part of the branding process. With an unrivalled and exclusive selection of fine foods, The Wembley Store now presents a unique product offering sourced from international markets, featured in the new product displays around the shop.
RESULTS SPEAK FOR THEMSELVES
“Managing the project offered some interesting challenges, particularly related to logistics of construction on Republic Street while maintaining the same level of retail service to The Wembley Store clients every day. As daunting as this may sound, we’re pleased that we helped our client keep its promises to its esteemed clientele.”
